About This Project

The name Malvasia is generally thought to derive from Monemvasia, a medieval and early Renaissance Byzantine fortress on the coast of South Peloponnese, known in Italian as “Malvasia”; In 1248, the Venetians came and reached a trade agreement that they would sell the sweet wines all over Europe with the name of Monemvasia. Then, Venetians became so prolific in the trading of Malvasia wine that merchant wine shops in Venice were known as malvasie.

The wine is not too alcoholic and its colour is straw with green highlights. It is lightly aromatic and has a pleasant and characteristic aroma, which includes apricot and peach, with a well-balanced, round and refreshing flavour.
